mCaptcha
mCaptcha is a privacy-focused, fully automated CAPTCHA system using proof-of-work to defend against attacks.
Description
mCaptcha is a privacy-focused, fully automated, proof-of-work (PoW) based CAPTCHA system. Unlike traditional CAPTCHAs, mCaptcha does not track or profile users, offering a robust and accurate solution regardless of network address translation (NAT). Its best-in-class user experience is silent and unobtrusive, avoiding annoying images or contributing to machine learning datasets. The PoW system makes attacks on websites more costly than responding to them, providing strong defense. It's designed as a drop-in replacement for existing CAPTCHA solutions like reCAPTCHA and hCaptcha, and is offered as libre software under a combination of permissive and AGPL licenses.
Features
Privacy-focused: No user tracking or profiling; Proof-of-work (PoW) based: Makes attacks more expensive than legitimate use; Robust and accurate: Works reliably across different network configurations; Excellent user experience: Silent and unobtrusive; Compatible with reCAPTCHA and hCaptcha; Open-source (libre) software: Client libraries are under permissive licenses, and the core is AGPL licensed.
Benefits
Improved website security through a robust, cost-effective PoW system; Enhanced user privacy by eliminating tracking and profiling; Superior user experience with a silent, unobtrusive CAPTCHA; Compatibility with existing CAPTCHA solutions for easy integration; Open-source and freely available for use and modification.
