OLIMEX SoM
OLIMEX System-on-Modules (SOMs) are cost-effective, modular boards for rapid embedded system prototyping and customization.
Description
OLIMEX System-on-Modules (SOMs) are cost-effective, modular boards that accelerate product development. They are designed for users who need to customize their solutions based on specific processors without the complexities of designing multi-layer PCBs. SOMs allow creation of simple, adaptable boards using readily available components. Each SOM comprises two parts: a main module with the processor, memory, and power control, and a peripheral module with USB, video, and other connectors. Olimex offers support for these modules through Android and Debian images, maintained by Olimex and the open-source community. The peripheral module design is open-source hardware, while the main module design remains proprietary. OLIMEX SOMs support various processors, offering flexibility for different projects.
Features
Modular design; cost-effective; rapid prototyping; supports various ARM Cortex processors; includes DDR3L memory and PMIC; simplifies high-speed PCB design; allows for customization with only necessary peripherals; available with open-source peripheral module design; official Android and Debian images supported.
Benefits
Reduced development time and cost; simplified PCB design; customized solutions; use of readily available components; support through open-source community and Olimex; flexibility in choosing processors; adaptable to different project needs.
