Related Organisations
The following organizations are actively working to promote technological sovereignty in Europe. We encourage you to explore their websites and learn more about their work. We, at the EuroStack Project, are not affiliated with all of these organizations, but we believe that their work is important and worth highlighting, and we are trying to work (or already working) with them to promote European technological sovereignty.
- EuroStack - "EuroStack is a European Industrial Policy initiative bringing together tech, governance and funding for Europe-focused investment to build and adopt a suite of digital infrastructures: from connectivity to cloud computing, AI and digital platforms." (Note: this policy initiative is distinct from the initiative described on this website.)
- The EuroStack Report - Report presenting the EuroStack as a European alternative for technological sovereignty. "Sovereign AI, open-source ecosystems, green supercomputing, data commons, and sovereign cloud: Building homegrown alternatives to empower Europe to reclaim control of its digital future—layer by layer, innovation by innovation."
- European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud - A EU-supported initiative that aims to foster the development and deployment of next generation edge and cloud technologies. The Alliance brings together businesses, Member States representatives and relevant experts. It will strengthen the position of EU industry on cloud and edge technologies. It aims to serve the needs of EU businesses and public administrations that process sensitive categories of data, and has the objective to increase Europe’s leadership position on industrial data.
- Euclidia - An industry alliance made up of SMEs active in the cloud industry. Members are cloud SMEs that develop and supply hardware or software for IaaS, PaaS or SaaS, and which are majority owned by European-based shareholders. Their mission is to allow Europe to continue to reap the benefits of innovation and technological assets developed within the continent. Euclidia is dedicated to highlighting the opportunity in creating a strong eco-system and SME-friendly environment that fosters innovation.
- Public Money, Public Code - a campaign by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) that calls for legislation requiring that publicly financed software developed for the public sector be made publicly available under a Free and Open Source Software licence. This would enable the public to fully benefit from publicly funded software and encourage collaboration and sharing of software across European public administrations.
- EU Linux - A proposed initiative, driven by a citizen petition, for the European Union to develop and implement an open source, Linux-based operating system across public administrations in all EU member states. The main stated goals of this initiative are to reduce dependency on proprietary software, enhance digital sovereignty, ensure GDPR compliance, improve security and transparency, and stimulate the European IT sector.

- EU OS - A Proof-of-Concept for the deloyment of a Fedora-based Linux operating system with a KDE Plasma desktop environment in a typical public sector organisation. Other organisations with similar requirements or less strict requirements may also learn from this Proof-of-Concept.

- NGI- The Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative is a European Commission program that aims to shape the future internet as an interoperable platform ecosystem that embodies the values that Europe holds dear: openness, inclusivity, transparency, privacy, cooperation, and protection of data.
- Sovereign Tech Fund - The Sovereign Tech Fund is a German initiative that aims to support critical digital infrastructure projects based on Open Source software. The fund is designed to provide long-term investment in the FOSS ecosystem and promote technological sovereignty in Germany and Europe.

- OSOR - The Open Source Observatory and Repository a place where the Free and Open Source software community can come together to publish news, find out about events, find relevant open source software solutions and read about the use of Free and Open Source in public administrations across and beyond Europe.
- ZenDis - The Centre for Digital Sovereignty of Public Administration in Germany.
- The Sovereign Tech Agency - The Sovereign Tech Agency is a German initiative that aims to support critical digital infrastructure projects based on Open Source software.
