The project was started by Bruno Bernardino as a personal project to replace Nextcloud for himself and his family, and has since grown to benefit many others. bewCloud includes core features like file storage, notes, photos, calendar, contacts, news, and expense tracking, all presented in a clean, user-friendly interface. Its architecture avoids the heavy legacy and bloat of older platforms, resulting in lower CPU and memory usage. The platform is open-source, actively developed with community contributions, and offers both self-hosted and managed cloud options.
