Data Product Portal

An open-source self-service marketplace for publishing, discovering, and accessing governed data products across an organization.

Description

The Data Product Portal is an open-source, self-service marketplace that enables organizations to publish, discover, and access data products in a governed manner. It bridges the gap between technical and business teams by organizing data into domain-specific, business-meaningful units that both sides can understand. The portal provides a centralized catalog where users can find data products, evaluate them through rich contextual information (ownership, version history, schema, reviews, usage metrics), and request access via a standardized, auditable workflow. It integrates with major cloud and data platforms (AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake) and translates high-level data product concepts into specific platform configurations while keeping governance with data owners. Built by Dataminded, the portal is designed to scale from 5 to 500+ data products, supporting data mesh and data product strategies in production environments.

Features

Discoverable catalog with filtering by domain, data type, or operational score, plus AI-powered search and natural language recommendations. Rich product detail pages showing ownership, version history, consumer reviews, usage metrics, data schema, sample data, and direct Q&A with producers. Standardized access request workflow with basket, business justification, project identifier, estimated approval time, clear audit trails, and approval dashboards for producers. Integration with AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and other platforms, translating data product concepts into platform-specific configurations. Open-source under Apache 2.0 license, allowing customization and extension by users.
